Lights gone out? Lost power? Electrical emergencies can occur without any warning and getting urgent assistance can be difficult. We provide a fast response breakdown service for unexpected electrical emergencies. Our emergency electricians will be onsite, usually within the hour, to assess the problem and organise the repair.
In electrical emergencies, we recommend that you follow this easy 4-step plan:
Don’t panic, there’s a reason your home has suffered power loss and it’s simply a process of elimination to find out the cause. If it’s dark, try to locate a torch so you can find your way around. Do not use candles. Turn off all your electrical appliances and lights, except one, so you know when the power comes back on.
Check if there has been an electrical blackout or shut down works in your area. You can call your electrical services provider to find out.In Queensland, call Energex on 13 62 62 for loss of supply, or 13 19 62 for emergencies.
Locate and check your switchboard for a tripped safety switch, circuit breaker or blown fuse. Before checking the fuses, make sure you turn off your main switch. If you don’t have a Safety Switch installed for your power and lighting circuits, then call South East Electrical today. It could just save your life!
Call us on 0412 678 357 and describe your problem to us. We will first try to guide you over the phone, to find a solution you can safely implement yourself. If this is just not possible, we’ll book a time with you and one of our emergency electricians will be onsite as soon as possible.
Remember if the power is out, your cordless phone, doorbell or intercom system will probably not work, so make sure you keep an eye out for your electrician’s arrival.
Once the electrical emergency has been fixed, make sure you reset any electric timers, alarms, clocks around the home. Check the food in your freezer. After eight hours without power, your food may have thawed, in which case you should throw it out.
South East Electrical has been looking after us for the last three years, doing repairs, installing air conditioning and electrical wiring for new buildings at the school. We also have our emergencies, like losing power to an entire building, or the school tuck shop with fridges full of food. They’ve been there within the hour to get power back on quick smart. They’re always pleasant to deal with and I would highly recommend their service.
